Monty Moran has been a director of Sweetgreen since June 2025. Monty became President of Chipotle Mexican Grill in March 2005. He was quickly promoted, leading Chipotle as its co-CEO until June, 2017. Under Monty’s leadership, Chipotle thrived, growing from a private, regional brand into one of the most successful public restaurant companies in history with thousands of restaurants. Prior to Chipotle, Monty was a trial lawyer in Los Angeles, then CEO and Managing Partner of the Denver-based law firm Messner and Reeves, LLC, where he led its rapid growth and record profitability for a decade. A proud father, entrepreneur, published author, public speaker, pilot, advisor to businesses, and filmmaker, Monty is passionate about leadership, culture, and human connection. Monty has a B.A. from University of Colorado Boulder and a J.D. with honors from Pepperdine University School of Law. Monty has three children, and lives in Boulder, Colorado.
